- Zylidac adds a high-yield light-controlled biologics platform to its CDMO offer, with no near-term revenue impact.
Zylidac Bio, Zydus Lifesciences' biologics CDMO in Emeryville, California, has partnered with Prolific Machines to scale Prolific's light-controlled cell-line platform from lab to GMP manufacturing. The plan starts with tech transfer at 50-litre scale using Prolific's illumination hardware in Zylidac's existing bioreactors, then scales to 250 litres and GMP for clinical and commercial supply. The move adds a high-yield option for complex biologics like multi-specific antibodies and fusion proteins to Zylidac's end-to-end offering, but brings no immediate orders or revenue.
- USFDA approval with 180-day CGT exclusivity for a $45.7 mn product adds small but high-margin US revenue.
Zydus received USFDA final approval for Estradiol and Levonorgestrel Transdermal System 0.045 mg/0.015 mg per day, the generic of Climara Pro, designated as a Competitive Generic Therapy eligible for 180-day exclusivity. The product had US annual sales of about USD 45.7 million and will be made at Moraiya, Ahmedabad. With first-approved exclusivity, it should contribute incremental high-margin US sales over the next 12 months, though small versus Zydus's scale.
- Zydus JV signed BOI deal for a USD 20m+ Sri Lanka plant with operations targeted from 2028.
Zydus Sunshine Lifesciences, the joint venture between Zydus Lifesciences and Sunshine Healthcare, signed an agreement with Sri Lanka's Board of Investment on 13 October 2026 to set up a drug manufacturing unit in Horana. The project involves a phased investment of over USD 20 million on a nearly four-acre site, starting with oral solid doses for the Sri Lankan market. Commercial production is expected to begin in 2028, so there is no near-term revenue impact.
- USFDA closed Moraiya inspection with 5 observations, creating near-term compliance overhang.
On 13 October 2026, Zydus Lifesciences said the USFDA inspected its Moraiya, Ahmedabad manufacturing plant from 5 to 13 October 2026. The inspection closed with 5 observations, which the company said it will work with the USFDA to address expeditiously. This creates a near-term compliance overhang for a key US-supply site pending the inspection classification and corrective actions.
- Zydus Keytruda biosimilar first to get USFDA review, with decision due in Q3 2027.
Zydus and partner Formycon said the USFDA has accepted for review the BLA for FYB206, a proposed biosimilar to Keytruda, claimed as the first publicly announced Keytruda biosimilar filing acceptance. The application was filed in Q3 2026 without a comparative Phase III trial and a decision is expected in Q3 2027, with filing also made in Canada. Zydus holds exclusive US and Canada commercialization rights, while Formycon earns a milestone payment on this acceptance and will supply the product.
- Supportive US subgroup Phase 3 data for saroglitazar de-risks pending FDA review ahead of planned US launch by March 2027.
Zydus Therapeutics presented a post-hoc analysis of its Phase 3 EPICS-III trial of saroglitazar in primary biliary cholangitis at ACG 2026, showing higher biochemical response than placebo in both US and non-US patients, with a larger treatment difference in the US subgroup.
