Latest announcements
Exchange filings and their impact on the company.
- Sun Pharma raised Rs 7,816 cr via 5-year NCDs at 8.05-8.20%, more than doubling debt and adding ~Rs 638 cr annual interest.
Sun Pharma on 26 October 2026 allotted Rs 7,816 crore of rated, listed unsecured NCDs on private placement, against a base size of Rs 7,000 crore plus Rs 816 crore greenshoe. Series A of Rs 2,003 crore pays 8.05% and Series B of Rs 5,813 crore pays 8.20%, both maturing 27 October 2031, with a put option on Series A in March 2028. The raise sharply increases gross debt and annual interest cost while purpose is not disclosed, weighing modestly on near-term earnings.
- Strong 2.5-year UNLOXCYT data shows durable complete responses with low toxicity, aiding niche uptake.
Sun Pharma will present long-term follow-up data for UNLOXCYT (cosibelimab) at ESMO 2026 on October 24 from 205 advanced cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma patients with median follow-up of 2.5 years or more. Response rates were 51.3% and 44.4% in metastatic cohorts and 53.1% in locally advanced disease, with complete responses in 34.4% of locally advanced and 16.7-20.6% of metastatic patients, and 69-82% of responders still in response at two years with low high-grade immune side effects. The data reinforces durability and tolerability for the FDA-approved drug but implies only gradual uptake in a small niche relative to Sun Pharma's scale.
- NCCN preferred listing boosts UNLOXCYT adoption but moves the needle only slightly for Sun Pharma.
Sun Pharma said its skin-cancer drug UNLOXCYT (cosibelimab-ipdl) has received a Category 2A Preferred designation in updated US NCCN guidelines for locally advanced cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma patients who cannot have curative surgery or radiation. Preferred status typically helps doctors prescribe the drug and helps with insurance coverage. For Sun Pharma, with annual sales of about Rs 58,462 crore, the benefit is positive but small in the next year as it ramps up US specialty sales.
- Sun Pharma board approved up to Rs 10,000 crore NCD framework, sharply raising leverage headroom with only small near-term earnings drag.
Sun Pharma's board on 12 October 2026 approved issuance of listed, rated, unsecured redeemable non-convertible debentures up to Rs 10,000 crore on private placement in one or more tranches, leaving tranche terms to the Finance Committee. The board also noted the resignation of independent director Gautam Doshi effective 12 October 2026 for personal reasons. The NCD framework gives large debt headroom against FY26 borrowings of Rs 4,627 crore, with limited earnings impact until the funds are drawn and deployed.
