Strong Q2 beat plus new MDR tailwind points to ~25% revenue growth and sharply higher profit over next year.

Paytm reported Q2 FY27 consolidated revenue of Rs 2,648 crore, up 28% year-on-year, with net profit of Rs 225 crore versus Rs 21 crore last year, and H1 revenue of Rs 5,096 crore. The board also guided to a 2.5 bps uplift in payments processing margin from upcoming NPCI MDR on large UPI payments, approved up to Rs 500 crore funding for overseas expansion via subsidiaries, and expanded loan-distribution guarantees by Rs 320 crore. Together this signals sustained profitable growth with an extra high-margin payments tailwind stabilizing over 2-3 quarters.

UPI MDR confirmed but pushed to after Diwali, still adding new high-margin revenue for most of the next 12 months.

Paytm said NPCI has deferred MDR on select UPI person-to-merchant transactions until after Diwali, with the start date to be notified separately. This follows NPCI's September 15 circular allowing MDR on select P2M UPI payments. The delay shifts collection by a few weeks but confirms a new monetization stream for Paytm's UPI acquiring business over the next year.
