Balkrishna Industries signed a strategic offtake agreement with Pirelli to make Pirelli-branded premium car tyres of 17-inch and above at its new Bhuj PCR plant. Supplies start in calendar 2027 and scale to 800,000 tyres per year by calendar 2030, mainly for India, priced on actual raw material plus conversion cost. A second phase envisages a 50-50 joint venture plant if preset conditions are met by 2030, with no extra capex needed for the offtake phase.
- BKT ties up with Pirelli for PCR offtake and a 50:50 India JV, de-risking its new PCR bet.
Balkrishna Industries signed three deals with Pirelli Tyre on 22 October 2026: a framework for a future 50:50 joint venture in India to make passenger car radial tyres, an offtake deal under which BKT will make Pirelli-branded car tyres at its Bhuj plant in Gujarat, and a service deal where Pirelli will help test BKT tyres using its proving grounds and simulation tools. No financial size or JV investment was disclosed. The tie-up gives BKT assured volume for its car-tyre plant and premium technology access, while the JV plant is a longer-term growth driver.
