- Jain to sell up to 19,000 tonnes of biochar carbon credits for 2026-2027, a tiny but high-margin new revenue stream.
Jain Irrigation has signed a deal with carbon removal marketplace Supercritical to sell biochar carbon removal credits covering up to 19,000 tonnes from its Jalgaon facility for 2026 and 2027. The plant converts food-processing and farm residues into biochar via gasification, with syngas reused for fuel and biochar used in its farm businesses, and is undergoing Puro.earth verification. The volumes imply only about Rs 10 crore of annual revenue against ~$750 million sales, so near-term financial impact is small but it opens a new high-margin, circular revenue line.
