- RBI found IOB understated risk-weighted assets, but capital ratios stay above minimum with no profit hit.
Indian Overseas Bank disclosed that RBI's Supervisory Evaluation for 2026 found it had not applied correct risk weights to certain corporate ECB syndication loans and undisbursed exposures, leading to under-reporting of risk-weighted assets as of March 31, 2026. The bank said the RBI-assessed RWA and CRAR have no impact on reported net profit for FY26 and that its CET1 and total capital ratios remain well above RBI minimums of 5.5% and 11.5%. It added the observations have already been factored into its RWA and CRAR calculations for the quarter ended September 30, 2026.
- SEBI cleared IOB to issue up to 10 crore shares to staff to lift public float, a ~0.5% dilution.
Indian Overseas Bank has received SEBI approval to issue up to 10 crore new equity shares to eligible employees through an Employee Stock Purchase Scheme. The approval allows this as a method to meet minimum public shareholding norms. At the current share price of about Rs 31, this is worth about Rs 310 crore and represents about 0.5% dilution, giving a small capital boost and helping on MPS compliance.
- Routine MCLR reset from Oct 15, 2026 with negligible near-term earnings impact.
Indian Overseas Bank informed the exchanges that it has revised its Marginal Cost of Funds based Lending Rate (MCLR) with effect from October 15, 2026. The filing does not disclose the tenor-wise rates in the extracted text. This is a routine loan-pricing reset and is not expected to meaningfully change interest income or profitability over the next year.
