Latest announcements
Exchange filings and their impact on the company.
- Indian Bank raised rates on two special fixed deposits from Oct 23 to attract deposits, with negligible earnings impact.
Indian Bank's ALCO on Oct 22, 2026 approved an upward revision in interest rates on its special retail term deposits Ind Grow (555 days) and Ind Prosper (777 days), effective Oct 23, 2026. The filing did not disclose the revised rates in the extractable text. The move aims to mobilise retail deposits to support credit growth, but as it covers only two specific tenors its impact on overall funding cost and earnings over the next year is expected to be very small.
- RBI found Indian Bank overstated Tier 2 capital by Rs 2,470 cr and understated RWA by Rs 22,079 cr, with no profit hit and capital still above minimum.
Indian Bank disclosed RBI supervisory findings that it had wrongly counted Rs 2,470 crore of provisions for stressed standard assets in Tier 2 capital and understated credit risk-weighted assets by Rs 22,079 crore by not applying conversion factors to cancellable undrawn exposures. The bank said this does not change its reported net profit for March 2026 and its capital ratios remain above RBI minimums. It has already included the corrections in its September 2026 capital calculations.
- Strong Q2 with 15% profit growth and sharp bad-loan cleanup supports double-digit earnings growth.
Indian Bank reported Q2 FY27 standalone net profit of Rs 3,462 crore, up 14.7% from a year ago, on total income of Rs 23,059 crore, with operating profit up 47% to Rs 7,090 crore. Asset quality improved sharply with gross bad loans down to 1.61% from 2.60% a year ago and net bad loans at 0.14%. The board also approved raising up to Rs 5,000 crore via infrastructure bonds and up to Rs 2,000 crore via AT1/Tier-2 bonds to support loan growth.
- Indian Bank raised repo-linked lending rates by 25 bps, modestly lifting interest income.
Indian Bank said it will raise its repo benchmark lending rate by 25 basis points from 8 October 2026, following the RBI's 25 bps policy repo rate hike. Other benchmark rates are unchanged. This should modestly increase interest earned on repo-linked loans over the next year, supporting net interest income and profit.
